I’ve been dying to shoot a wedding at Coldwater Gardens in Milton for YEARS now, and Ash + Jeremy made all the wedding dreams come true when they honored me with being their photographer in March!!
Ash knew exactly what she wanted down to every detail and each vendor involved…because she’s a wedding photographer herself! The most meticulous thing was thought of (and as someone who adores both moments and details, this was amazing for me personally). The woodsy setting was the perfect backdrop for this couple, and we took full advantage of every aspect Coldwater Gardens had to offer!
While the details were obviously important, there was no shortage of emotional moments throughout the afternoon.
Since there was no first look, Jeremy saw Ash the very first time in her pink beaded wedding gown as she descended the stairs at the Gardens. In a word: BREATHTAKING. I’m not sure if there’s ever been a more sweeping and lovely entrance as hers!
Tears ran down Ash’s cheeks as she and Jeremy read aloud their hand-written vows, and the intimate gathering of family and friends held hands as they all prayed for the happy couple. The joy on their faces as they walked away as hubby and wife was perfection!
Ash and Jeremy wanted to share their love story and wedding experience as well! Keep reading along for all the fun!
How did you two meet and how long have you been together?
“We met through mutual friends. It actually wasn’t until not seeing each other for a little over a year that Jeremy asked me on our first date. Since then, we’ve been together almost 6 years.”
What was your absolute favorite part of the day? Does your spouse have a different favorite?
Ashley – “My favorite part of the day was standing in our circle of family we created and saying our vows to each other. This has been a long time coming and it was time. Standing there hearing Jeremy say his vows and seeing our family and friends reactions brought me to ugly tears.”
Jeremy – “Jeremy’s favorite part of the day was seeing me walk down the aisle for the first time. The only thing traditional about our wedding was waiting to see each other as I walked down the aisle. It was his one request. He said that moment was everything for him and made him feel like the luckiest man in the world. I beg to differ, but that’s only because I practically ran down the aisle.”
Why did you pick your particular venue?
“We chose Coldwater Gardens because we knew that we wanted to be surrounded by nature. Coldwater Gardens has a gorgeous property that gave us everything we hoped for, such as: cabins to stay in overnight and to offer to our guests coming in from other states, a terrace and building to use in case it happened to rain, a friendly staff that are super accommodating, and the picture perfect locations around the property. We were able to take a modern spin on a gorgeous nature filled setting. It was everything we hoped it would be.”
What was the biggest challenge you faced in planning your wedding?
“Planning everything in less than two months. Start early. Hire a planner. And get it done early. Seriously, the only reason I was able to make it happen was because I got married on a Monday and I’m in the wedding industry. I would not have been able to have the wedding of my dreams without an incredible team and support group behind me.”
What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding?
“HIRE A PLANNER. Melinda was incredible and helped keep me in check leading up to the wedding day. She also was my saving grace day-of. Planners know what to expect and think of things you forget. It’s their job. They have been to enough weddings to be able to anticipate your needs and help relieve stress.”
What photography-related advice would you offer to other couples?
“Hire people you like to be around. I mean, obviously love their work and what they do, but you don’t want to hang out with someone you don’t like on your wedding day. AND your photographer/videographer is with you ALL day and all up in your business. So hire good people that make killer images.”
How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day?
“So I feel like answering this is cheating. Melissa has been a friend for at least 6 years now. As a photographer it’s always interesting to see how other photographers work and getting to see her in action at my wedding was incredible. She stays fun, upbeat, and super low key. She worked incredibly with all of my other vendors, especially Storylive (our videographers), which was a huge HUGE deal!”
