Perryn and Mike have two sweet boys already, but they’ve shockingly never gotten to do a maternity session together! I didn’t know this until the day of their session (and this is also why their sons didn’t happen to be in on these photos). Mike has one of those jobs where you’re basically gone for a few weeks and then home for a few weeks, so logistically it was always tricky to plan out.
They are expecting a baby girl now by the name of Llywellyn Anne – who I already affectionally called Lulu. :) And there was no way they were missing the opportunity to finally make these maternity photos happen!
The lighting was perfect. Perryn’s dresses were perfect. We even had a cooler breeze that day, which was perfect considering it has been a scorching Florida summer! But perfect sessions aren’t always without their challenging obstacles….
First I need to say that Perryn was a champ to infinity and beyond. I requested we make a little trek up to this gorgeous beach overlook, and she totally crushed it pregnant and all. However, on my initial perusal of the sight I failed to notice the baby cactus pieces littered across the sand. Thankfully Perryn’s eagle eyes spotted all of them (and we’d come too far to turn back!). After that we encountered the biggest armadillo I’ve ever seen (no harm done – he didn’t even say hello). And by the end of the session rain was threatening to beat down on top of us.
Is this just a normal day at the office for me? Well if you take away the cacti and armadillo I’d say yes ;) Truly no clients were harmed in the making of this session! The rain clouds even split to go completely around us on either side, and despite just a few drops here and there we got away with a pretty dry session.
Good thing I always carry clear umbrellas in my car ;) Kept Perryn’s hair dry!
